All About Hair: Quick Tip: How Essential Oils Help With Hair Growth

We all know essential oils have therapeutic properties that range from antibacterial to antiseptic, but did you know they are also purported to help with hair growth? In the beginning of my hair journey I used tons of essential oils in my homemade concoctions and store-bought products to aid in hair growth in certain problem areas [specifically the nape and hairline]. I definitely noticed significant re-growth in those areas, coupled with less breakage.

Essential oils can help with hair because some of these oils have the ability to lengthen the anagen phase. Remember the anagen phase is the stage of active hair growth. Essential oils also work to nourish the follicle and stimulate circulation, correct scalp issues, and promote rapid hair cell renewal.

How are a few ways to use essential oils in your daily regimen:
Add 2-3 drops per dollop of shampoo or conditioner - Shampoo hair with shampoo + essential oil, or add a few drops to your conditioner for an added treat.

Add 1-2 drops to 1/4 cup of warm coconut oil for a hot oil treatment - A hot oil treatment with an essential oil mixture is an easy, effective method of combining essential oils with your regular hair routine.

Add 5-10 drops to 1/4 cup of Jojoba Oil for a scalp massage oil - My favorite! Massaging your scalp with an essential oil mixture stimulates blood flow to the follicles which is said to stimulate hair growth. I do scalp massages about every other day. It also makes for a great stress reliever!
